ABC daytime president Brian Frons will leave the network in January 2012 after his contract expires. The departure of Brian Frons follows the executive’s highly publicized decision to end soap operas All My Children and One Life to Live in favor of talk shows and lifestyle programming.
According to the Los Angeles Times, Brian Frons will be replaced by Vicki Dummer, senior vice president of series and specials, who will also become the executive vice president of Times Square Studios, which the network is creating in New York to oversee the daytime productions.
Although future plans for Brian Frons aren’t clear, it was Frons who decided to leave the network.
