Host Steve Jones has been busy on The X Factor as the competition narrows down the top finalists. Although Steve Jones has played emcee and master of ceremonies on The X Factor, Jones has also played somewhat of the referee at times with the judges. Despite his efforts to keep The X Factor on track and entertaining in between singers, Steve Jones also knows a thing or two about calming the nerves of remaining X Factor singers Melanie Amaro, Marcus Canty, Josh Krajcik, Rachel Crow, and Chris Rene.
Ahead of Thursday night’s results episode of The X Factor, The Deadbolt spent a couple of key minutes with host Steve Jones to get his thoughts on The X Factor singers, the judges, and what Jones thinks about the future of Astro.
THE DEADBOLT: So, what do you enjoy the most, the actual contestants or the competition between the judges?
STEVE JONES: Oh, that’s a good question. That’s a tricky one. I enjoy hanging out with the contestants, seeing them flourish and become little superstars. I mean the judges are such complicated beasts and you can see those four gigantic egos in front of you every week, vying for everyone’s attention and wanting to get their point across. That’s kind of fun.
To be honest with you, maybe I’m going to commit. I love watching the judges, they’re great. The contestants, they sing their songs and I’ve watched them in rehearsals and I’m familiar with it by the time we get to the live show. So, I’ve seen that and it’s enjoyable, but you just don’t know what the hell is going to come out of these judge’s mouths from one minute to the next. So, that’s exciting and the fact that I’m the guys who tries to steer them in the right direction. The fact that I’m the one who goes, “Stop talking now please, because we only have so limited time. We’ve got to get a conclusion by the end of the show.” It’s a challenge, but I’d say the judges. I love being in front of them.
THE DEADBOLT: What’s your view of Astro? Is he just young and arrogant, or is he really that good?
JONES: I wouldn’t say arrogant, but petulant. He’s young and he kind of follows the stars, but essentially he’s also immensely talented. I believe he is that good and this guy will be a superstar. He’s about to fill a niche. I mean the guty is going to fill the Justin Bieber hip-hop niche. He’s going to be gigantic. I would put my house on that, definitely.
