Adam Lambert Wants to Play with Queen Again

519 days ago by Troy Rogers

Adam Lambert recently looked back on his performances with Queen and revealed that he plans to sing with the band again in the future.

In an interview with The Sunday Times, Adam Lambert mentioned that he’ll sing with Queen again at some point in the future after sharing the stage with the band on the American Idol finale in 2009 and at the MTV European Music Awards in 2011. “We will definitely perform together again,” said Lambert. “Standing in for Freddie [Mercury] feels natural for me.”

Beyond Queen, Adam Lambert also discussed his upcoming new album called Trespassing, which Lambert described as more up-tempo in nature thanks to meeting his boyfriend, Sauli earlier this year. Lambert explained that prior to meeting Sauli, he was exhausted and in a much darker state of mind.

Trespassing by Adam Lambert hits store shelves on March 20.

What do you think?

There is NO ONE ALIVE who can do MORE justice to Queen songs than Adam Lambert. Obviously Roger Taylor and Brian May feel the same! Thanks for the article Troy!

Yes, I agree- adam was spectacular with queen!   But he is also spectacular as a solo  artist- his new single dropping tues is a mega-hit.  Adam is in a league of his own and doesn’t need anyone!  Although no one would complain if we see him collaborate with queen again that’s for sure

I don’t see anything wrong with Adam touring with Queen on a limited basis or doing a live or televised performance with them every now and then. It’s tremendous exposure for Adam as Queen has a massive fanbase and from the looks of it they were very pleased with the EMA performance. Many Adam fans are deadset against it because they think it will hurt Adam’s solo career but if you look at the artists who are hot in the world of pop music right now they are doing many collaborations with other artists while still keeping their solo efforts chugging along. If Adam has the stamina for it (which I think he does) I don’t see it as anything but a plus for his career. Adam and Queen upstaged every single artist that performed at the EMAs this year. They have a special chemistry and Adam is not intimidated by the massive responsibility of stepping into Freddie’s shoes.

100 % agree with jrsgirl. Adam will get huge exposure with Queen. Few concerts here and there will be profitable for anybody: Adam , Queen and most of all, each of these collaborations will be an amazing treat for us, music lovers.

Brian Mays is also a fantastic singer as well as great guitarist. Wonderful Freddie Mercury did not sing some songs entirely alone – often it was Freddie alternating with Brian Mays on some lyrics.-their later albums. Lots of people don’t realize that.
Adam is a great vocalists too. Not one can replace Freddie, tho there are many wonderful vocalists like Elton John, George Michael, Brian Mays., Adam Lambert is the newest. And ,Queen with Adam singing at the European Music Awards was the highlight of the night.

Crossing my fingers for more Adam/Queen collaborations!

Adam performing with Queen will wake up the world and see how fantastic Adam is…He killed that queen medley which gave all or any doubters just how fantastic this young man is….Yes he should do some touring with them..both will profit.  I know the world will know who Adam is on this next cd trespassing…He’s heading rigth to the top of the world…i knew it from the first time i saw him on idol…i’m in awe of his talent!!!

Adam and Queen were amazing together live at the EMA’s. He’s the perfect voice to insure that the show will go on, and that millions more will get a feel for how awesome Queen’s music with Freddie upfront really was. Adam was able to project that amazing sound and energy.

Without being a ‘sound-a-like’, there is no one alive other than Adam with the stage charisma, skills, and pipes who can do justice singing to QUEEN.  His performances with the band are epic. He brings his own persona too, and rather than being a replacement to Freddie (impossible task!), his voice is a different, albeit spectacular, flavour.
As for his own work, the musicality evident on his current single “Better Than I Know Myself” bodes well for his album. My one complaint is that like so much of his contemporaries on the top 40, his voice is ‘over produced’ – however, Adam Lambert is the one person who does NOT need that production.  The song would be infinitely more moving if his vocals were allowed to stand more on their own.
As for his relationship with Sauli, it is none of our business, but everyone deserves happiness and no one more so than Adam, who brings such happiness to us! I wish them both luck!

My sentiments exactly….I’ve said this in other forums and people think I’m dissing Adam..I’m NOT! I love Adam, and the new song…but, again, as in his first album, it’s over-orchestrated, over-produced and drowns out Adam’s natural perfect voice.  It’s not necessary to do this to Adam’s voice…he’s the one artist that doesn’t need any of that crap, or autotune….very frustrating

Yes, I agree with both of you.  I don’t like his first albums, and therefore didn’t buy, as he is over produced.  Adam might like this type of ‘layering’ but it definitely pulls away from his ‘perfect voice and pitch’.   For one or two songs on the cd it would be ok.–but not every cut.  Give me some raw, Adam Lambert!!!  Now the Glam Nation Tour cd and video–both outta sight!!!  A GREAT piece of work–showing Adam at his best.  If you are looking for opinions on which work of Adam’s to buy until Trespassing comes out–go with that one.

Adam’s collaboration with Queen would be beneficial for all, especially the fans. He brings Queen back to life being able to sing in the same key as Freddie.

Brian and Roger think highly of Adam as a singer/performer, and they would like to make an appearance or two with him, but they are not looking to replace Freddie and try to reconstruct Queen. They are very open, encouraging and gracious to new talent and performing with different people and groups. I hope they do get together as I think Adam has a fabulous voice and is a good fit with Queen.

Adam Lambert is a natural frontman for Queen.  Not only has he that voice rightfully described as “one in a hundred million” by Roger Taylor but also the stage presence and natural charisma to fill Freddie Mercury’s massive shoes.  With the wrong choice of singer, the EMA performance could have been a letdown of a finale.  As it was, it was spectacular.

Well it was a great pairing, Adam with Queen.  Can’t think of anybody off hand I’d rather see performing with Queen (other than Freddie).  But to be honest, I’d love to see Adam performing, period.  Hope it’s recorded, as I love watching Adam perform.  This man can dance, sing and song write–and is so expressive.  Enjoy your coverage of Adam Lambert, Troy (very much).  (Also crossing fingers, and toes for Adam/Queen collaborations! cd and dvd? beg, beg)
