The Twilight Saga May Survive Beyond Breaking Dawn

495 days ago by Larson Hill

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1The Twilight Saga may survive beyond Breaking Dawn now that the popular teen film franchise is at Lionsgate following the studio’s purchase of Summit Entertainment.

On Friday, following the official purchase of Summit Entertainment by Lionsgate, Jon Feltheimer, chief executive of Lionsgate Entertainment, hinted to The Los Angeles Times that fans could see more of The Twilight Saga characters played by Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner.

“It’s hard for me to imagine a movie that does $700 million-plus doesn’t have ongoing value,” said Feltheimer. “It’s an amazing franchise that they have done a great job of maintaining with absolutely no deterioration.” Since Lionsgate now has the popular Stephenie Meyer series under its roof, Feltheimer was upbeat about the future of The Twilight Saga. “So the simple answer is, ‘Boy, I hope so.’”

Although The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 was supposed to wrap the mega-popular film franchise in November, the recent acquisition of Summit by Lionsgate opens a new Twilight world of possibilities, including The Twilight Saga on television.

As reported by The L.A. Times, Feltheimer admitted that The Twilight Saga on television is a hopeful possibility, especially since Lionsgate has has its own TV productions.

What do you think?

Why????? I hope this is not true

  • DNevel

I dont know about a TV show that would probably suck but it would be cool to do The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner into a movie.

Ugh. Why can’t it just go away???  I think it’s more than enough to have four terrible books and five awful movies, all of which combine to bring barely enough plot and action to fill an opening sequence.

Besides, the movies are based on the books and the books (thankfully) ended.  Harry Potter was super-successful too, and the movies ended where the books ended.

I don’t like the idea of a television series but I could see more movies. Even thought the books end, there is still alot of questions and possibilities.

I think that a few more movies would be great. But I don’t think a television series is going to work. Lets just keep it at a movie.

  • CrazyEight44

Ok I see two sides of this both positive and negative the positive is that lionsgate is a good film industry with evidence of movies like Dogma, American Psycho the Saw Series as well as movies like The Punisher and other films. The major thing I think might be good for the series is it might continue on into a darker form of the series and we might get to see a film version of midnight sun. I like lionsgate films so I am kind of bias on this but I will objective about  it as well. Negative: Repetition and depends if the cast wants to do it or not.

I’m a big fan of Twilight and honestly I don’t care either way. What happens, happens, and I’ll watch anything with the cast in it.

  • Mockcatrease

I’m a big fan of the Twilight saga and and sad that it will end, but end it must.  Go out on a high note.  I doubt that the original cast would want to continue, fear of type casting and just wanting to go in a new direction after 5 years of playing the same old same old.  I read a lot of the fan fiction stories and own the dvds  Please don’t ruin it by forcing it to continue.

  • Destint8510

Breaking dawn was so rong I thought edward and bella could not have a baby

  • Blfrye

I love the Twilight Saga.  I hope it continues in movie form.  It would be terrific to see Midnight Sun finished and in movie form.   Also Renesmee is another possible plot avenue to consider.

  • Chrissy :)

I wouldn’t mind more movies if they would use the same actors. I don’t think they will come back, I mean without the original actors, and Stephanie Meyer on board it would be a disaster! And as far as a tv show goes, I don’t see Rob and Kristen on the small screen anytime soon, such a bad idea.. If they can get the same actors and Stephanie back, I’m all for another movie..

  • Abs_bia777

Right now I say no. But I just know I’ll somehow be sucked into watching it. *sigh…*

Sure, but make them about Carlisle or Emmet and Rosalie, or Leah. Or the Volturi, because those people have way more morals and are vastly more interesting than Edward and Bella. Or it can be about Rennesme, after she grows up, ditches Jacob and her parents, and decides to become a vampire hunter. And make sure you get the director of Eclipse to do it.

  • Roadwort

Why Lionsgate why?!? They used to be so good and they had a consistent level of quality no matter what kind of movie they were doing such that I could see any of their films and know that I would probably enjoy it. If they’re gonna start pulling this crap, I’ll never trust them again. Come on, Lionsgate. Twilight fans are all retards, every single one of them and you know that. Don’t degrade yourself by sinking to their stupid, moronic, idiotic level. Do the right thing and let it die so maybe we can get a film series that’s actually intelligent, like The Hunger Games.

I’m a fan of the book and films, but I think this is a terrible idea. Just saying. The actors are already too old for the parts and from what I’ve seen of them I think they’re probably at least a little relieved it’s all finally over. A TV series invites the concept of a long-term continuation and I think that would be impossible given the aging of the actors.
However I would not be against small spin-offs for minor characters, or backstories for them as explained in Stephenie Meyer’s official guide, such as Bree Tanner, or the Volturi or wolves.

  • Truthsayer

Oh geeze I hope not. The whole “Twilight saga” is horrible, and we already have far too many idiotic sexy vampire shows on t.v. as it is.

  • Diana

I guess the Mayans were right…the world will end.

  • scroop

I’m not happy, but if I was the CEO of lionsgate I would be

  • ale

Are they kidding? This would be without sense. I liked the book, and disliked the movies, but enough is enough.
