New Being Human Conflict with Sam Witwer

Being Human returns to the Syfy airwaves on January 16 at 9pm with stars Sam Witwer, Meaghan Rath, and Sam Huntington back for a second season under the theme of temptation.

When we last saw Sam Witwer as vampire Aidan McCollin at the end of season one, Aidan became the leader of Boston’s vampires after being summoned by an unknown female. With Aidan now looking at more responsibility, the Being Human vampire will need to deal with all that comes with leadership.

So, how does Sam Witwer look at the upcoming season in relation to the new circumstances that the Being Human characters face? For Witwer, who spoke to reporters during a recent call, season two is more about the fallout of not being human.

“If season one was about putting these people who are at risk into a safe environment,” said Sam Witwer, “season two is all about what is that risk about? With these people and their adversities, the specific risks that they have in terms of being vampire, werewolf, and ghost – what do those conditions mean?”

In the season one finale, Aidan went head-to-head with Bishop, the vampire that turned Aidan in the first place. As Sam Witwer elaborated, season two of Being Human will explore why the characters are at risk.

“Basically, what it means is these people are in trouble,” added Witwer, “and we’re going to see a lot of that trouble this year. We’re going to see why they need so badly to have a sanctuary because things get a little bit darker this year.”

Although Sam Witwer admitted that we may see a bit of tension between the three characters in season two, Witwer was quick to explain how fans will see other sides of the Being Human characters as the season progresses.

“The real challenge I think this year was – we’ve lived with these characters for a season now,” Witwer continued. “so it’s like, ‘okay, what can we show? What new sides of this character can we show?’ We do get to know these different sides of these characters in big ways.”
