The Office to Spin-Off Dwight

The Office may spin-off a new series for Rainn Wilson as Dwight Schrute after word surfaced that NBC is already planning to introduce the spin-off later this season.

In a new report at Deadline, word has it that NBC plans to give Rainn Wilson his own spin-off series from The Office in the character of Dwight Schrute.

Although The Office spin-off with Dwight hasn’t been officially confirmed, the report indicates that NBC is actively working on the project and eyeing the new Rainn Wilson series to debut midseason in 2013. As reported, The Office spin-off would be a family based series and see Dwight Scrute living at the Schrute family beet farm and Bed & Breakfast.

Word has it that The Office producer Paul Lieberstein and Rainn Wilson cooked up the series idea after several years of joking about Dwight’s life on the Schrute farm and that the spin-off would be introduced later this season.
