The X Factor: Abdul, Scherzinger and Jones Are Out

Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger will not return to The X Factor as judges for Season 2 only a day after host Steve Jones left the Fox talent series.

Amid a flurry of X Factor news in the past 48 hours, the Associated Press reports that Nicole Scherzinger is out of The X Factor as a judge after host Steve Jones left the show this week. On the heels of the Scherzinger news, Deadline reports that Paula Abdul will also be leaving The X Factor.

As Deadline reveals, from a Simon Cowell insider, Scherzinger, Abdul, and Jones were part of a “clean house” process to recalibrate the The X Factor after lower than expected ratings this past season.

Following a series of missteps on The X Factor, which included the firing of Cheryl Cole early in season and the controversial elimination of 13-year old Rachel Crow at the hands of Scherzinger, Simon Cowell looks to be cleaning the slate and starting anew for Season 2.
