New Smash Photo of Megan Hilty and Kat McPhee as Marilyn

Ahead the second episode of Smash, a new NBC exclusive photo shows Ivy (Megan Hilty) and Karen (Katharine McPhee) dressed for the part of a lifetime!

Although fans of Samsh are still wondering who will get to play Marilyn Monroe in the Smash musical, the latest photo has Megan Hilty and Katharine McPhee in stage character for the part. After the pilot of Smash, Katharine McPhee as karen now looks more like Marilyn than she did in the first episode.

Both Hilty and McPhee stand outside the theater next to the stage door, waiting for their next audition.

    If they’re looking for someone who can play both innocent and sultry/sexy, McPhee’s got that dichotomy down pat. Ivy definitely comes off as the sexpot in the beginning, but as time goes by I think we’ll see more of her wounded, if not exactly innocent, side. Maybe it depends on how people see Marilyn  herself. But no matter what I, a long-time McPhee fan, would do, I think Ivy will get first chance at the role. Then we’ll see what transpires after that. Good dramas live on conflict, after all.
