The Avengers stormed into theaters to break the box office record for the best opening weekend ever in the U.S. with $200.3 million in domestic ticket sales.

Although The Avengers earned $80.5 million in its first day at the box office, the Marvel superhero ensemble film has gone on to make $200.3 million in its first three days to beat the $169.2 million set by previous record holder, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2.
