The Walking Dead on AMCThe season two premiere of The Walking Dead set a new record in basic cable history with a total of 11 million viewers after AMC gave fans multiple broadcasts of The Walking Dead to kick off a new season of zombie horror.

According to New York Daily News The Walking Dead attracted 7.3 million viewers for the season two premiere, with 4.8 million viewers in the 18-49 adult demographic, the highest number of any drama in cable history. After repeated broadcasts of The Walking Dead, the season two premiere had a final total of 11 million viewers for the night after multiple broadcasts.

The season two premiere of The Walking Dead attracted almost double the amount of viewers from the season one premiere of 4 million, which was enough for AMC to green light a second season after one episode.
