After two seasons on American Idol, Steven Tyler announced this week that he will not return to judge the popular Fox singing competition.

Through a public statement on Thursday, Steven Tyler revealed that he’s decided to leave American Idol and that he’ll be working full time on making music as the lead singer of Aerosmith. On Thursday, Tyler announced that his departure from American Idol comes after serious thought and that he’d rather leave Idol early before the show “boils my rabbit.”

Tyler added that the next few years will be dedicated to kicking ass in music with Aerosmith, which releases Music from Another Dimension on the Earth, Moon, Mars in November.

Regarding his time on American Idol, Steven Tyler admitted that he had a great time. “Idol was over the top fun, and I loved every minute of it.”
