John Lennon’s Killer Denied Parole in New York

Mark David Chapman was denied parole by the New York State Department of Corrections for a seventh time 32 years after shooting and killing former Beatle John Lennon in front of the The Dakota hotel in Manhattan.

Reuters reports that 57 year old Mark David Chapman, who gunned down John Lennon in front of The Dakota hotel in 1980, was denied parole after a hearing earlier this week.

In a statement written to Mark David Chapman, a parole board decision maker emphasized that his release from prison would “undermine respect for the law and tend to trivialize the tragic loss of life” that Chapman so violently took on December 8, 1980.

Reuters further reports that Chapman has been up for parole every two years since 2000 and has been denied each time he’s appeared in front of officials.
