The Possession topped the Friday box office this week after taking in $6.1 million in domestic sales to beat Lawless and The Expendables 2.
On Friday, The Possession, produced by Sam Raimi, was the top film at this year’s weak holiday box office with $6.1 million in ticket sales, which puts the new horror film on track to earn an estimated $17 million over the four day Labor Day weekend.
Behind The Possession was Lawless at $2.75 million and The Expendables 2 at $2.2 million.
Closing out the top five on Friday, The Bourne Legacy took in $1.8 million while ParaNorman earned a low $1.4 million.
