The X-Factor makes its second season debut on Fox with Britney Spears and Demi Lovato at the judge’s table alongside Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid.
After a first season of highs and lows on The X Factor that eventually led to Melanie Amaro being voted the winner, thousands of hopefuls auditioned for the chance to make it big in season two. This season on The X Factor, Britney Spears and Demi Lovato take over for former judges Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger while Simon Cowell works to find a new host following the exit of Steve Jones.
Ahead of tonight’s premiere, here are 4 things we want to see on season two of The X-Factor.
Britney!
Although some celebrity critics may want to see Britney for the “train wreck” TV factor, the hiring of Spears by Simon Cowell was a smart PR move for the show. After inking a $15 million deal to be a judge on The X Factor, Britney did exactly what Cowell wanted: generate a ton of buzz for the show.
Call it curiosity, love, or fascination, there’s no doubt that people will tune in to see Britney as a judge. After all, it’s Britney, bitch!
What was that?
Let’s face it, people who can’t sing are funny. People who don’t know they can’t sing are even funnier. We all know the auditions are the best part a singing competition. We get the meltdowns, the divas, and the just plain weird.
But it’s those moments on The X Factor that also make us cry for the singers who don’t make it. In fact, we all want to laugh and cry a little with both the winners and losers.
A host
Following the departure of Steves Jones as host at the end of last season, a number of names have been swirling around the online rumor mill. From Stacy Keibler, Mario Lopez, and Kelly Osbourne to Terrence J, Erin Andrews and Mike Catherwood, the web has been abuzz with possible co-hosts.
If it were up to Simon Cowell (as most things are on The X-Factor), Khloé Kardashian Odom would take over as co-host of The X Factor. According to various online reports, Khloe Kardashian is the frontrunner. Although we’d like to see Kelly Osbourne (at least there’s a musical tie-in) and Kevin McHale of Glee, it may very well be a Kardashian.
The mentors
Justin Bieber, Nick Jonas, Marc Anthony, and will.i.am are confirmed to appear as mentors on The X-Factor once the initial auditions are over and the judges have selected their teams. As the season progresses, Bieber will join L.A. Reid, Jonas will pair with childhood friend Demi Lovato, Marc Anthony will team with Simon Cowell, and will.i.am will join forces with Britney. At first glance, it looks like L.A. and Britney have the advantage.
