A 3-year-old English Mastiff named Truman needs your help for surgery so that he can continue to make a heartwarming difference in the lives of others.
Since us pop culture nuts here at The Deadbolt spend way too much time on frivolous entertainment, we’ve decided to focus on an issue that’s important to a lot of people.
Meet Truman, a 3-year-old English Mastiff who’s been diagnosed with Spinal Stenosis and is in dire need of surgery to save his life. The problem is, the surgery is costly to the tune of $10,000. In these tough economic times, as we all know, it’s hard to scramble quickly to get that type of cash.
Thanks to the internet and the power of social media, Truman has a great shot at getting what he needs.
A new online campaign is currently underway to raise the money for Truman’s surgery. To date, through combined efforts of fundraisers and donors, half of the surgery costs have already been raised for Truman.
Truman urgently needs your help!
Please help Truman
Hello! We are Cory McBain and Karen Spicer, two people who have come to adore a gentle soul named Truman, a 3-year-old English Mastiff. Cory rescued Truman in the Summer of 2011 and when Truman’s progressing condition became untenable for Cory, Karen stepped in and offered a foster home on her farm. Truman has since flourished on Karen’s farm, but his condition is worsening. In February of 2012, Truman was given about a year to live, and he’s running out of time. He needs surgery soon or his quality of life will decrease further until we have to put him down, and none of us want that. We feel this surgery is crucial to his quality of life and the extension of that life.
Truman needs more time here!!! He brings joy to everyone he meets and is a star wherever he goes.
What We Need
We need approximately $10,000 for a Dorsal Laminectomy for Truman. We have received a quote from the AMAZING Dr. Nick Sharp at Canada West Veterinary Specialists for $9159.00 but we want to ensure we have a little extra in case costs go over budget. They adjusted the original quote from 12-15K because Truman is so special to them and they want him to have more time!
Any leftover funds will donated to A Better Life Dog Rescue in Truman’s name, where we got him last year. They have been nothing short of amazing in their support for this wonderful dog. A Better Life has already put up a significant portion of the money for the surgery, so the ball is already rolling!!
After the surgery and lengthy recovery process, Truman will experience a long life of fun and wonder on his farm with Karen. He’ll stop falling down and needing help to rise. His incontinence issues will go away. And most importantly, he’ll have more time here.
