The horror film House at the End of the Street and the cop thriller End of Watch tied for first place with $13 million each at the weekend box office.
According to early estimates, the Jennifer Lawrence topped House at the End of the Street tied with End of Watch, starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Pena, to lead the weekend box office over other films that included the Clint Eastwood baseball themed Trouble with the Curve, which earned $12.7 million.
Although the sci-fi Dredd 3D garnered positive buzz prior to its release, the new Lionsgate film only managed to earn $6.7 million over the weekend for a sixth place finish.
Behind House, End of Watch and Trouble with the Curve were Finding Nemo 3D at $9.7 million, Resident Evil: Retribution at $6.7 million, Dredd 3D, and Paul Thomas Anderson’s The Master at $6.1 million, which was only released in less than 800 theaters.
