The Voice continued the Blind Audition phase on Tuesday night as singer Cassadee Pope earned the respect of all four coaches with her version of Natalie Imbruglia’s “Torn”.
A former singer of the band Hey Monday, which toured with Fall Out Boy, Cassadee Pope got a four-button push from the coaches on Tuesday night.
Pope, a native of West Palm Beach, Florida, not only impressed the coaches but also prompted Blake Shelton to proclaim the 22-year old singer a superstar. As a result, Cassadee Pope became the latest singer on The Voice to join Team Blake.
After singing for years with her band, performing on The Voice was a much different experience.
“I think the biggest difference,” Cassadee told The Deadbolt the next morning, “is just being up there and not having the support from the guys that I was in my band with. I went to high school with them. One of them I’ve known since I was 13-years old.”
Interestingly, when it came to outside support, Cassadee received a video message from Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz who wished her well on her new journey.
Now that Cassadee has earned a spot on The Voice, what was it like for Pope to go solo without her band?
“It was definitely scary,” Cassadee admitted to The Deadbolt, “because the house band, the amazing house band, they were tucked all the way in the back, so I couldn’t interact with them. It was definitely a different experience. Not just as a solo artist but on that stage.”
Although Cassadee has been used to singing on stage with Hey Monday, The Voice was a much bigger stage on a national level.
So, what was it like to finally take the stage as a solo artist on one of the most popular shows in America?
“With the judges turned around and how they couldn’t see you,” Pope continued, “it was bizarre. But once they turned around, I felt a little more connected.”
