Hotel Transylvania took the top spot at the Friday box office with $11 million in ticket sales on its first day to beat the sci-fi thriller Looper.
When the early box office estimates were calculated, as reported by Variety, the animated Hotel Transylvania, starring the voices of Adam Sandler and Selena Gomez, took in $11 million on Friday to lead the way over the Bruce Willis and Joseph Gordon-Levitt topped Looper at $6.9 million.
Industry analysts have Hotel Transylvania on track for a $40 million weekend take at the box office come Monday morning. By the end of the weekend, Looper is expected to earn upwards of $20 million.
Directed by Genndy Tartakovsky (Samurai Jack, Star Wars: Clone Wars), Hotel Transylvania stars the voices of Adam Sandler, Selena Gomez, Andy Samberg, Cee Lo Green, Kevin James, Fran Drescher, Steve Buscemi, Jon Lovitz and more.
Rounding out the top three at the Friday box office was End of Watch at $2.4 million.
