British folk rockers Mumford & Sons topped the Billboard charts this week as the top seller of 2012 with the debut of Babel, the band’s second studio album.
With over 600,000 albums sold, Babel is the biggest debut for any album on the Billboard charts this year.
As reported by Billboard, Green Day had the second best release of 2012 with the first of their planned trilogy of albums, ¡Uno!, which sold 139,000. No Doubt’s Push and Shove, the band’s first new album in 11 years, sold 115,000 for third place on the Billboard list.
Mumford & Sons also had the second largest week for a digital album with 420,000 downloads behind Lady Gaga’s Born This Way, which sold 662,000 downloads last year.
