Once Upon a Time returned to ABC on Sunday for the second episode of the season in which the townsfolk of Storybrooke had a important decision to make, Regina fought with bitter memories of her mother, and both Mr. Gold and Charming agreed upon a tentative truce despite several passive aggressive comments.
Although we didn’t see much of Snow and Emma in this week’s Once Upon a Time, there was still plenty to keep fans within ABC’s fantasy fairy tale world of “We Are Both”.
Here are our top three moments of this week’s Once Upon a Time:
Caught between a rock and a hard place
In “We Are Both”, the townspeople realized that if they leave Storybrooke, they’ll lose their memories. But Prince Charming (Josh Dallas) stepped forward with an inspiring speech about how he’ll protect them from Regina. Somehow it worked.
Despite Charming’s protective plea, Regina won’t make things easy, especially with so much revenge festering inside of her.

Regina becomes evil
The Evil Queen/Regina (Lana Parrilla) struggled to regain her magic while attempting to get her son back. However, with great power came great responsibility as the story of how Regina became evil slowly unfolded. It turned out that old Rumpy (Rumpelstiltskin, aka Mr. Gold) had a lot more to do with cultivating her power for evil magic.
How could you not feel a little sympathy for Regina? Given the twisted relationship with her mother, it was much easier to understand why she wanted to keep Henry (Jared S. Gilmore) no matter who else got hurt in the process.
Henry makes the ultimate sacrifice
Given all of the tension and turmoil within Storybrooke, Henry was once again at the center of it all. He even said it himself this week, “The curse was broken because of me!” Why does everyone ignore Henry? Well, the one person he wanted to ignore him didn’t since Regina got him back.
Was anyone else heartbroken when Henry told Regina, “I don’t want to be you.”?
So what’s in store for the folk of Storybrooke in next week’s episode of Once Upon a Time? What about the mysterious Mad Hatter? How long will the shaky truce between Charming and Rumpelstiltskin really last?
We’ll have to wait until next week for answers in “Lady of the Lake”.
