Dancing with the Stars All-Stars Recap: New Leaders, Old Dances

224 days ago by Nadya Vlassoff

Dancing with the Stars All-Stars was back on Monday as the eleven remaining celebrities hit the dance floor ahead of Tuesday’s double elimination round.

It was a night of throwbacks on Dancing with the Stars as each All-Stars couple chose memorable dance routines from the previous fourteen seasons.

After each All-Star reinterpreted dances of former contestants, the leaderboard once again shuffled as Kelly Monaco and Melissa Rycroft received the highest scores of the night to land both in a tie for first with 27 points each.

Although each All-Star made significant improvements on Monday night, Bristol Palin found herself at the bottom of the scoreboard for a second week in a row despite a solid score of 22.5.

EXCLUSIVE: Dancing with the Stars: Peta Murgatroyd Chats Gilles and All-Stars

As for last week’s top dancer on Dancing with the Stars All-Stars, judge Carrie Ann Inaba was critical of Sabrina Bryan and Louis van Amstel for their Paso Doble since the pair “didn’t being anything new.” Still, despite the criticism, Sabrina and Louis received a decent score of 25.5 points.

Fan favorite Gilles Marini and partner Peta Murgatroyd remain in contention after dancing a reinterpreted tango from Erin Andrews in season ten. Although Gilles and Peta went from second last week to a tie for third, both are still sitting pretty on the scoreboard.

Shawn Johnson and Derek Hough ended the show on a high note with their trampoline infused take on Hélio Castroneves‘ previous quickstep for a score of 26.5. Following the dance, judge Bruno Tonioli nearly jumped out of his skin with elation. “One of the best dances I’ve seen,” said Bruno, “if not the best dance in 15 seasons.”

It was also revealed that former American Idol judge Paula Abdul will sit in next week as a guest judge while the dancers get to choose the routines of the other competitors.

Here’s the leaderboard on Dancing with the Stars All-Stars after Monday night’s performances:

Kelly Monaco & Val Chmerkovskiy: 27

Melissa Rycroft & Tony Dovolani: 27

Shawn Johnson & Derek Hough: 26.5

Apolo Anton Ohno & Karina Smirnoff: 25.5
