Actor and talk show host Gary Collins died of natural causes early Saturday morning at the age of 74 in Mississippi at Biloxi Regional Medical Center.
In a statement to TMZ, Harrison County Deputy Coroner Brian Switzer revealed that Gary Collins died at 1:00 a.m. of natural causes at the Biloxi Regional Medical Center in Mississippi.
A popular talk show host in the 1980s with Hour Magazine, Gary Collins was also the host of the Miss America Pageant from 1982 to 1989.
Born in born in Venice, California in 1938, Gary Collins began his career in as a radio and TV host in the U.S. Army before moving to Los Angeles where he also worked as an actor on such shows as The Wackiest Ship in the Army, The Sixth Sense, Born Free, The Andy Griffith Show, Hawaii 5-O, Perry Mason, The Love Boat, and more. Collins was also a cast member of the 1970 ensemble film Airport, which kicked off a string of popular Airport related made for TV movies.
Gary Collins was a six-time Emmy nominee and Outstanding Talk Show Host winner in 1983 for Hour Magazine. Collins also has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
