Justice League was given a summer 2015 release date after Warner Bros. won the legal rights to Superman
The planned Justice League movie was given a summer 2015 release date this week after Warner Bros. won a legal battle over the rights to use Superman.
Following a legal battle with the estate of Superman co-creator Joseph Shuster over the use of Superman in Justice League, Warner Bros. can now go ahead with the DC Comics superhero ensemble movie to compete with The Avengers.
After slating Justice League on their schedule for summer 2015, Warner Bros. is looking to start production in 2013.
The Justice League movie will star Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman, (hopefully Green Lantern) and others. The script for Justice League is already in the works and has been described as a darker, more mature version of the comic book storylines.
Earlier this year it was announced that Will Beall had been working on the script for the upcoming Justice League movie for quite some time.
So who else is involved in the Justice League movie?
Don’t count on director Christopher Nolan to be part of the project (just yet). Although Nolan is a producer on the Superman reboot Man of Steel, Warner Bros. group president, Jeff Robinov, wasn’t able to convince The Dark Knight helmer to join the project.
Back in August it was reported that Ben Affleck was approached to direct the movie. Still, no director or stars are attached to the project.
The Justice League movie has had a long history in development Hell. Fans have been screaming for a Justice League movie for years. Despite the demand, various scripts, drafts, attached directors, producers and actors have failed to kick-start the franchise on film… that is, however, until now!
So, what will make the Justice League movie work? Can it really compete with The Avengers?
