Wreck-It Ralph topped the Friday box office this week after taking in $13.4 million in domestic sales to beat Flight and The Man with the Iron Fists.
On Friday, the new Disney animated film Wreck-It Ralph was the top film box office with $13.4 million in ticket sales, which puts the new video game themed movie on track to earn an estimated $50 million over the weekend.
Behind Wreck-It Ralph was the new Denzel Washington film Flight at $8.2 million and The Man with the Iron Fists at $2.2 million.
Wreck-it Ralph follows the story of Ralph (John C. Reilly) a video game character who is tired of being overshadowed by good guy Fix-It Felix (Jack McBrayer) and wants to be the one to save the day. Ralph takes matters into his own massive hands and sets off on a game-hopping journey across the arcade through every generation of video games to prove he’s got what it takes to be a hero.
The new Disney film topped the positively reviewed Flight, starring Denzel Washington as an airline pilot with a substance-abuse problem who tries to land a crippled airliner.
Wreck-It Ralph also beat the Quentin Tarantino produced martial arts film The Man with the Iron Fists with Russell Crowe and Lucy Liu.
Rotten Tomatoes has Wreck-It Ralph at 84%, Flight at 77% and The Man with the Iron Fists at 53%.
Closing out the top five on Friday, Ben Affleck’s Argo took in $3 million while Taken 2 earned $1.8 million.
