Daniel Craig returns to the role of James Bond in the November 9 release of Skyfall
Skyfall with Daniel Craig won the weekend box office with $87.8 million to become the biggest opening James Bond film in the history of the franchise.
As expected, the new James Bond film Skyfall took the top spot at the weekend box office with $87.8 million in ticket sales to lead the way over Disney’s animated Wreck-It Ralph at $33.1 million and Flight, starring Denzel Washington, which took in another $15.1 million to finish in third spot.
Skyfall, the 23rd Bond film in the famous Ian Fleming spy franchise, took in $30.1 million on Friday amd will now finishe ahead of industry analysts who predicted that Skyfall would do $80 million over the weekend.
On Friday, it was clear that Skyfall would become the biggest selling Bond film of all time. In 2008, Quantum of Solace debuted to a $67.5 million opening weekend. Interestingly, Quantum of Solace has a 64% critic rating on Rotten Tomatoes while Skyfall is currently rated at 91%.
Directed by Sam Mendes, Skyfall stars Daniel Craig, Judi Dench, Javier Bardem, Ralph Fiennes, and Naomie Harris.
