Actor Geoff Stults returns to the Fox airwaves this week on Ben and Kate in a guest starring role that spans two episodes of the first season comedy.
With Career Day at Maddie’s school coming up this week on Ben and Kate, starring Nat faxon and Dakota Johnson, former star of The Finder, Geoff Stults, steps into the guest role of the handsome neighbor who Kate begins to fall for in the episode “Career Day”.
Six months removed from the final episode of The Finder, and three months since the passing of The Finder co-star Michael Clarke Duncan, Geoff Stults returns to Fox for a two episode stint on Ben and Kate.
With The Finder behind him, Stults has a sense of optimism as he looks to the future.
“Creatively I’m starting over again,” Stults told The Deadbolt this week. “I look at The Finder as it’s not the first show I had canceled and it certainly won’t be the last. It’s a totally different show. Starting over in TV, that’s one of the reasons why I wanted to do this show. I wanted to be in the half-hour world again. For me, I was thrilled to be able to do it.”
In its short run, The Finder managed to gain a loyal audience of Bones fans but couldn’t maintain a solid footing in the ratings. Despite being picked up for the 2011–12 season, The Finder was cut short in May of this year.
“I feel like I’m lucky to have done that,” Stults added, “and that chapter is closed. Now I move on to this and I’ve enjoyed all of it. The cast is great and they allow improv. Just the environment toward creativity and playing around a little bit, I’ve never been in that world before.”
When Stults returns to Ben and Kate for Thanksgiving on November 20, his character encourages Kate to stand up to the high school bully.
But what can we expect from Geoff Stults when he makes his guest starring debut this week on Ben and Kate?
“My character on this show,” Stults continued, “he’s more of a straight-guy. He’s not necessarily the funny dude. So he’s not there to be the funniest guy in every scene, but more there to set-up the funny for Ben and Kate.”
Ben and Kate airs Tuesday nights at 8:30/7:30c on Fox.
