Justin Bieber may soon have his life played out on television in a new ABC sitcom based on the teen singer’s unconventional upbringing and home life.
The currently untitled Justin Bieber project at ABC will be filmed as single-camera comedy and tell the story of a teen music prodigy raised by a single mother and grandparents. As confirmed by TV Guide, the upcoming Bieber sitcom will echo much of the singer’s personal life before his rise to musical stardom.
ABC gave the project a commitment with an eye on Entourage writers Matt Wolpert and Ben Nedivi to pen the script. Justin Bieber’s manager, Scooter Braun, will serve as an executive producer on the currently untitled show.
The idea of a Justin Biber sitcom first gained momentum in 2011 and is now moving forward to the next stage of development. Although ABC committed to a script, the network has not confirmed that the show will make it past pilot season.
As diehard fans know, Justin Bieber grew up in Stratford, Ontario in Canada where the young singer performed on street corners before uploading his videos to YouTube, which caught the eye of manager Scooter Braun in 2007. Bieber was then flown to Atlanta, Georgia where he auditioned for Usher and the rest is history.
