During Sunday’s finale of Survivor: Philippines, sex therapist Denise Stapley emerged the winner after beating tribe mates Lisa Welchel and Michael Skupin.
Although Denise was allied with front-runner and original Matsing tribe mate, Malcolm Freberg, for the entire season, Stapley became a true contender after Malcolm was voted out in a surprising final four Tribal Council.
That left Denise to plead her case in the season finale with Lisa and Skupin as one of the final three Survivors. Despite strong cases made by her fellow tribe mates as to why they should win, Denise let the jury know that she had survived every Tribal Council across all three tribes this season.
However, Tribal Council had more than a few tense moments during the final three interrogation, especially when returning Survivor, Jonathan Penner, outed Lisa as a former child star on the Facts of Life. Did it have an impact on the final vote? We’ll never know.
In the end, Denise earned the approval of most opf the eliminated jury members to win Survivor: Philippines and Season 25 of the popular CBS reality series.
Although Denise took home the $1 million prize and title of sole Survivor, Lisa Welchel was voted the $100,000 winner by the fans at home.
It was a deserving win by the sex therapist from Cedar Tapids, Iowa, who battled the odds to become the winner of Survivor: Philippines.
