Rihanna opened the start-studded Season 3 finale of The Voice on Wednesday night with a live performance of “Diamonds” from her new album Unapologetic.
When The Voice returned to NBC on Wednesday night, Rihanna kicked off the Season 3 finale with her #1 single “Diamonds” before Team Blake singer Cassaddee Pope was named the winner.
For “Diamonds,” Rihanna stood in front of fans, spotlights and her backing band and used the entire stage to give a moving performance of her #1 chart topping hit from her latest album Unapologetic.
“Diamonds” was released back in September and debuted at #16 on Billboard before quickly climbing to #1 to give Rihanna her 10th #1 single of her career, 12 if you include duets with T.I. and Eminem. Unapologetic is Rihanna’s first album to debut at #1 on Billboard.
Rihanna kicked off the finale that also saw appearances by The Killers, Kelly Clarkson, Avril Lavigne and the legendary Smokey Robinson.
At the end of the night, Team Blake Shelton singer Cassadee Pope beat fellow team mate Terry McDermott and Nicholas David to win the third season of the popular NBC singing competition.
Although Cassadee Pope received a standing ovation for her win, Rihanna brought the house down with “Diamonds” to show the final three how it’s done on a global scale.
Earlier this year, Rihanna completed her 777 tour which saw the pop star travel to 7 cities for 7 concerts in 7 days.
