How I Met Your Mother will return for a ninth season after word broke this week that the popular CBS comedy was allegedly renewed by the network.
Although CBS didn’t officially confirm the Season 9 renewal of How I Met Your Mother, Deadline first reported that the show is secure for another season while Entertainment Weekly revealed that the cast is close to signing a deal.
That means fans will see more of Jason Segel, Neil Patrick Harris, Josh Radnor, Cobie Smulders, and Alyson Hannigan on CBS when the series returns to the CBS roster.
Earlier speculation had it that How I Met Your Mother would indeed return to CBS and that the network was looking forward to renewing the comedy for a ninth season.
Although nothing was officially announced throughout the year, this past summer CBS was eager to talk with the stars and production team about returning next year.
“We’re having conversations right now about extending it,” said CBS Entertainment head Nina Tassler only months ago. “We want the show to come back next year.”
It now appears How I Met Your Mother will be back.
The most recent Season 8 episode called “The Final Page” aired on December 17 with the engagement of Neil Patrick Harris’ Barney and Cobie Smulders’ character Robin.
