The red carpet premiere of Promised Land recently took place in New York City where the film’s stars talked about the new drama from Focus Features.
Prior to the official theatrical release of director Gus Van Sant’s Promised Land, actors Matt Damon and John Krasinski joined Focus Features CEO James Schamus and actress Rosemarie DeWitt on the red carpet for the New York premiere.
Promised Land reunites Matt Damon with Good Will Hunting director Gus Van Sant for a story about the fight for oil drilling rights in a small town. Promised Land was written by Matt Damon and John Krasinski from a story by Dave Eggers.
In the red carpet interview, Matt Damon talks with NBCUniversalDirect’s Janine Brady about taking a current snapshot of America and making a movie about real people before John Krasinski shares a personal story about his father who grew up in a small town with a grounded sense of trust and community.
Also in the Promised Land interviews, actress Rosemarie DeWitt shares insight into her character and the story while Focus Features CEO James Schamus reveals why he read the screenplay and the company supported the story.
Opening wide on January 4, Promised Land centers around a corporate salesman (Damon) who goes to a small town to try to secure drilling rights to the citizens’ properties. When a slick environmental activist (Krasinski) arrives, the stakes rise.
