The Bachelor returned to ABC on Monday night with Sean Lowe looking for true love after being rejected by Emily Maynard last season on The Bachelorette.
Although Sean Lowe was unlucky in love last year with Emily on The Bachelorette, the Dallas insurance agent had his hands full on Monday night as The Bachelor.
For the most part, the premiere was like watching someone at a singles party stagger around drunk in a wedding dress as they try to land a date with a nonsensical reading of 50 Shades of Grey. Kind of fun but mostly cringe-worthy!
After a timely reunion between Sean and Bachelorette runner-up Arie Luyendyk Jr., who arrived to offer some greasy, “I’m perfect for The Bachelor” advice on how to win over women, it was down to business.
First impressions were everything on Monday as Sean changed up the usual game and handed out the majority of roses at the first “meet and greet.” It all started with 24-year old Tierra from Los Angeles who got a first impression rose immediately after getting out of the limo. From there, roses were handed out to a variety of girls well before the official rose ceremony.
Among the new crop of lovebirds were former Season 3 Bachelor Pad contestant Paige Vigil and Kacie Boguskie (aka Kacie B) from last season of The Bachelor with Ben Flajnik. That’s right, Kacie B., who Ben SHOULD have proposed to last season. At this early point in the show, Sean and Kacie B. have a lot in common.
So, what would true train wreck TV be without booze, babes, and brides? Not much!

Although 20 contestants were given roses and 6 were sent packing on Monday night, all eyes were on 2 girls, 50 Shades of Grey fanatic Ashley P. and prankster Lindsay, “The Bride”, who spent nearly the entire show in a wedding dress as comic relief.
When Ashley P. first arrived at the mansion to meet Sean, the 28-year old hardcore fan of 50 Shades of Grey removed a tie from her bra and promised to perform the book on The Bachelor before the night was over.
As it turned out, Ashley hit the bottle way too hard for first impressions, got hammered out of her mind, and tried to win Sean over with an incoherent 50 Shades rambling before falling drunk on the floor in front of the others. And with Ashley on the hardwood, fans were saved from a night that could have easily had Sean going from Christian Grey to Ron Jeremy in 120-minutes.
As for “wedding dress” Lindsay, who also had too much sauce, the drama was more innocent, lighthearted and playful. Although the wedding dress joke was on her (literally), Lindsay flung herself at Sean like a drunk fairy tale princess in an effort to get a rose. It was more like stumbling into (and hanging from) Sean’s arms, but …
After several failed attempts to lock lips with the new Bachelor, embarrassment finally set in, public shame took hold, tears flowed, and Lindsay momentarily vanished like Supergirl only to return in appropriate eveningwear minus the train/cape.
When it was all said an done after the final rose ceremony, Kacie B. was in along with Tierra and 18 other girls, including Lindsay who made the wise choice to change clothes at the right time. As for boozer Ashley P., she joined former Bachelor Pad contestant Paige Vigil and four others on the way out the door.
So, what did we learn after the Season 17 premiere of The Bachelor? The majority of girls can handle their liquor on national TV when put in front of a camera.
