Golden Globes 2013: Best and Worst Dressed

The 2013 Golden Globe Awards were handed out on Sunday, January 13

The 70th Annual Golden Globe Awards went down on Sunday night in Los Angeles where stars hit the red carpet in the hottest, most fashionable designer duds.

Although Golden Globe viewers were eager to see the awards for the very best in film and television, it was all about the red carpet fashion hits and misses before the ceremony began. Celebrities paraded down the red carpet in designer couture by such favorites as Oscar de la Renta, Vera Wang, Pucci, Zac Posen, and Naeem Khan.

While some stars chose bold colors for their Golden Globe night, others went for classic chic. Everyone agreed, however, that simple was best. Fans saw a slew of plunging necklines, floor-length mermaid gowns, and thigh-high slits that went on (up) for miles.

That’s Hollywood!

Here are our picks for the Best and Worst Dressed at the 70th Annual Golden Globe Awards:

Sofia Vergara, Lea Michele, Heidi Klum, and George Clooney and Stacy Keibler at the 2013 Golden Globe Awards

Best Dressed: Sofia Vergara, Heidi Klum, George Clooney, and the Ladies in Red

Fashion mavens Heidi Klum and Sofia Vergara were stunning. Klum rocked a white, floor-length Alexandre Vauthier gown while Vergara made the most of her voluptuous curves in a sparkly black Vera Wang original.

Glee’s Lea Michele gave Heidi Klum a run for her money in an absolutely incredible, all-white Elie Saab gown with high slit. Props to Lea’s stylist since there had to be some double-sided tape in there somewhere.

Although all eyes were on the women at this year’s Golden Globes, George Clooney embodied the best of Hollywood in a Giorgio Armani suit alongside Stacy Keibler, who chose an Armani Privé gown with silver detailing. Clooney and Keibler were easily definitely the Best Dressed couple of the evening. Then again, they usually are.

New Girl Zooey Deschanel and Golden Globe winners Claire Danes and Jennifer Lawrence all made bold statements in red gowns. Although Deschanel had a memorable “Worst Dressed” red carpet moment at the 2012 Emmy Awards, Zooey rebounded this year in a fabulous flared gown by Oscar de la Renta. Danes wore a perfect slim-fitting Versace number while Golden Globe winner Jennifer Lawrence let her gown by Dior Haute Couture do all the talking.

Kristen Bell, Jennifer Lopez, Jodie Foster and Jessica Chastain at the 2013 Golden Globe Awards

Worst Dressed: Kristen Bell, Jennifer Lopez, Jodie Foster, and Jessica Chastain

The usually picture perfect Kristen Bell showed off her baby bump in a overly sparkled Jenny Packham gown that absolutely overwhelmed her tiny frame. Despite the fashion miss, Bell was all smiles as she proudly walked the red carpet in heels.

Although Jennifer Lopez looked fabulous from the neck up, her lace Zuhair Murad dress was definitely a miss for one reason alone. The gown certainly accentuated Lopez’s most valuable assets, but the nude underlay didn’t match the top layer. J-Lo was hot but there was something a bit too manufactured about the mismatch.

It’s hard to go wrong with Giorgio Armani but Jodie Foster’s sequined blue gown underwhelmed in a big way. Although the Cecil B. DeMille Award winner was honored for her lifetime achievement, Foster fell flat with her fashion choice. Strapless would’ve been the better way to go!

Despite Jessica Chastain’s win for Best Actress in Zero Dark Thirty, her Calvin Klein dress needed a bit more taking in around the curves. From the waist up, Chastain’s dress hung like a bath towel after stepping out of the shower.
