55th Annual Grammy Awards Winners List

The 55th Annual Grammy Awards were held on Sunday in Los Angeles where Fun., Jay-Z and Kanye West, Gotye, and Mumford and Sons emerged as the big winners.

It was another year of the best in music as the Staples Center played host to the Grammy Awards on Sunday.

As for the big winners, Fun. walked away with the Grammy for Song of the Year along with Best New Artist. Australia’s Gotye, who had one of the biggest songs of 2012 with “Somebody That I Used to Know”, took home three awards, including Record of the Year, Best Pop Duo/Group Performance (with Kimbra), and Best Alternative Music Album.

2012 musical heavyweights Mumford and Sons won the Grammy for Album of the Year for their latest effort Babel, which marked the fifth year in a row that an indie label won the award. Babel sold over 600,000 copies in its first week of release in September 2012.

In the rap categories, Jay-Z continued his dominance at the Grammys with the help of Kanye West on their song, “N****s in Paris. The Black Keys also took home three awards, including Best Rock Album for El Camino, one of the best-selling records of 2012.

Although all eyes were on the red carpet after the Recording Academy enforced a strict dress code, the Grammy’s were packed with performances by Rihanna, Justin Timberlake and Jay-Z, Taylor Swift, The Black Keys, and Mumford and Sons.

Late legendary drummer Levon Helm of The Band was honored with a musical tribute from singers Zac Brown, Brittany Howard, Elton John, Mumford & Sons, and Mavis Staples. Dave Brubeck, who passed away in early December, was honored by Stanley Clarke, Chick Corea, and Kenny Garrett.

The Grammys ended the night with an amazing tribute to Bob Marley that included Bruno Mars, Sting, Tihannam and two of Marley’s sons, Ziggy and Damian.
