Survivor: Caramoan – Allie Pohevitz on the Vote, “I knew it was coming”

This week on Survivor: Caramoan, New York bartender Allie Pohevitz of the Gota tribe became the first fan to leave the game after a heated Tribal Council.

Although Allie formed an early Survivor alliance with fellow Gota tribe mates Reynold, Hope, and Eddie, the Caramoan foursome found themselves on the wrong side of the numbers game to the stronger Gota alliance of Laura, Matt, Michael, Sherri, and Iraq War veteran Shamar.

Among a tribe divided, Allie watched as Reynold called out Shamar for a lack of contribution to the tribe. However, in an effort to solidify numbers on her alliance, Sherri swung Shamar to her side to send Allie home during the second Tribal Council of the season.

The day after leaving Survivor: Caramoan – Fans vs. Favorites, The Deadbolt caught up with Allie to learn more about her time on Survivor and leaving the game early.

THE DEADBOLT: How shocked were you that it was you and not Shamar that got voted out?

ALLIE POHEVITZ: I wasn’t really shocked. I knew it was coming. We had a rough day right before tribal, so I knew it was coming.

THE DEADBOLT: How did you view Shamar’s value as a tribe member? Was Reynold right?

ALLIE: Yeah, he was just a waste. I think Sherri was brilliant for keeping him along. As long as he’s there, he’s going to be a big target.

In my mind, it was, “we have to get rid of him.” It was never, “let’s try to string him along.” It was, “I can’t stand living with him.” Thinking about it now, it was, “how stupid am I?”

THE DEADBOLT: Looking back now, how do you think you should have played things differently?

ALLIE: We were working and it wasn’t just the four of us. We had a few other people working with us. But I think I should have went for a numbers alliance. It doesn’t matter if I like them. It doesn’t matter who it was, I should have went for the numbers. I had no idea going into it that it was going to be my downfall.

    To a point Shamar was not carrying his weight but on his defense, he said from the start they didn’t like him which I could easily understand where it’s coming from. It’s easy to find little fault and make it a sour point and magnify specially coming from someone of different kind. It’s how a gangs operates. Shamar attitude didn’t help much. His thinking was you exclude me, why then I should kiss your “a” to fit in when you won’t do the same thing. He is a structured man in the military who will function better when there’s a strong recognized leader to follow. There will be a big bulls eyes on his back until he’s gone. Is that good for now as a group? As for the tribe, the goal is to win challenges to avoid tribal council. Some challenges needs physically strong body and some needs intelligence to avoid elimination. That’s where he might be useful as a component to help the tribe win as a group. Later on, when individual challenges comes, that’s a whole different strategy.
