Donald Trump recently shared his thoughts on All-Star Celebrity Apprentice and the return of magician Penn Jillette ahead of the March 3 premiere.
Although Penn Jillette butted heads with singer Clay Aiken last season on Celebrity Apprentice, the Penn & Teller illusionist returns to the Trump boardroom this Sunday for a shot at winning the title of All-Star Celebrity Apprentice.
“He actually does very well,” Donald Trump told The Deadbolt ahead of Sunday night’s premiere. “You know, we’ve shot much of it and he does very well.”
Last year fans watched as the often misunderstood Jillette clashed with Aiken over how best to approach the weekly projects. Although the Celebrity Apprentice feud between Penn and Clay was nothing compared to the emotionally super-charged, TNT showdown between Meatloaf and Gary Busey a year earlier, the Las Vegas magic icon was caught off-guard by Clay’s business acumen.
So, was Donald Trump surprised that Penn returned to Celebrity Apprentice for the All-Star edition?
“He did very well the first time,” Trump added to The Deadbolt. “And no, I wasn’t surprised. It has been extremely good for him, for his brand, and for his show in Las Vegas, and I wasn’t surprised.”

On Sunday night, Penn Jillette will join an All-Star line-up that includes previous contestants Trace Adkins, Stephen Baldwin, Gary Busey, Dennis Rodman, Lil Jon, Dee Snider, Marilu Henner, La Toya Jackson, Omarosa, Claudia Jordan, Brande Roderick, Lisa Rinna, and 2010 Celebrity Apprentice winner Bret Michaels of Poison.
“It was very easy to get everybody to come back,” Trump continued about this season’s competitors. “I mean, we got everybody that we wanted back. And it’s actually very easy to cast the show because everybody really wants to be on it. Whether it’s Piers Morgan or Joan Rivers or Trace Adkins, or so many others that have done [the show], or Bret, so many have done so well for themselves and their brand. They have made a lot of money. They have also made a lot of money on the show itself for charity, but their brand has made a lot of money.”
All-Star Celebrity Apprentice premieres Sunday, March 3 at 9/8c on NBC.
