Actor George Clooney spoke about American politics in New York on Wednesday at the premiere of his latest film, The Ides of March. While in New York, Clooney revealed that he will never run for political office since it’s an arena that doesn’t hold his interest.
According to ABC News, George Clooney explained to reporters in New York City that he has no interest in getting involved in politics despite playing a presidential candidate in his latest film, The Ides of March. For George Clooney, it appears that the trade off in running for office isn’t worth it. “It would never be something I’m interested in,” said Clooney. “I’m not good at the kind of compromises that you have to make to get elected.”
George Clooney, who directed, produced, co-wrote, and stars in The Ides of March, admitted that he knows that he chose the right career path over politics. “I got the better gig,” Clooney added. “I got a nice house, life is good.”
In The Ides of March, George Clooney plays presidential candidate Pennsylvania Governor Mike Morris, who finds himself embroiled in a sex scandal, backroom deals, and blackmail.
The Ides of March opens nation wide on October 7.
