Mikey Welsh, former bass player of Weezer, was found dead in a Chicago hotel room on Saturday at the age of 40. The cause of death was not released as the Chicago Police continue to investigate the death of Mikey Welsh.
The Chicago Tribune reports that Mikey Welsh, former bass player for Weeser, was found dead in a room at the Raffaello Hotel in Chicago on Saturday. As reported, Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Laura Kubiak revealed that staff at the Raffaello Hotel discovered Mikey Welsh after he failed to check out of the room at 1pm. A spokesman for the Cook County medical examiner’s office explained that Welsh was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:50pm.
Following the death of Mikey Welsh, a message on the Weezerpedia web page gave fans information on where they could post their thoughts and photos of Welsh. “As many of you may have heard, Mikey Welsh has passed away,” read the message. “The news was announced via his official Facebook page earlier in the evening. Understanding that many here are grieving, Weezerpedia has created a digital eulogy page for Mikey Welsh where fans can post stories, pictures, or thoughts. R.I.P. Mikey.”
