6 years ago by Reg Seeton

Guitarist Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath confirmed that he has been diagnosed with cancer after Iommi revealed the news on Monday via his official website.

Only weeks after Tony Iommi and his Black Sabbath band mates announced their upcoming tour in support of a new Black Sabbath album, the first in 33 years, the following message appeared on the official Tony Iommi website:

“With the news that Black Sabbath’s Tony Iommi has been diagnosed with the early stages of lymphoma, his band mates would like everyone to send positive vibes to the guitarist at this time.”

However, despite the cancer news, Tony Iommi is optimistic given that he’s now working with doctors to determine the best course of action, as the message continued. “With the news that Black Sabbath’s Tony Iommi has been diagnosed with the early stages of lymphoma, his band mates would like everyone to send positive vibes to the guitarist at this time.”

Although no further details were released, the message did say that Black Sabbath band mates Ozzy Osbourne, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward will next go to the UK to continue work with Tony Iommi on the upcoming album.
