Ahead of the January 20 release of Red Tails, producer George Lucas revealed the reason why he wanted to tell the story of the Tuskegee Airmen.
In the new eight minute Red Tails preview with George Lucas, the creative force behind the Star Wars franchise talks about how he got involved in Red Tails, the story of the famous Tuskegee Airmen, the twenty year journey to bring the project to life, his love of airplanes, and the unique struggle for African Americans to fight for the freedom of both their country and their people at home.
Also in the new behind-the-scenes clip of Red Tails, George Lucas introduces fans to director Anthony Hemingway, who helmed many episodes of the popular HBO series The Wire. Lucas goes into detail to explain how he worked with the real Tuskegee Airmen to bring the film to life in an accurate manner.
The great thing about the Red Tails clip is that it also serves as a time capsule since it features George Lucas, Anthony Hemingway, the cast and crew with the real Tuskegee Airmen.
