Country star Taylor Swift is eyeing the role of music legend Joni Mitchell for her big screen debut based on the book “Girls Like Us” by Sheila Weller.
If negotiations pan out, Taylor Swift would play Joni Mitchell in “Girls Like Us” which centers around the music careers of Mitchell, Carole King and Carly Simon, women who were legends in their own time back in the 1970s. Although Variety reports that Taylor Swift hasn’t received an official offer from Sony Pictures and Di Bonaventura Pictures, Swift’s name has been associated with the part since last year.
After topping the country music charts and winning every major award associated with country music, Taylor Swift expanded her acting resume with roles in Valentine’s Day and most recently The Lorax.
The Variety report reveals that the film is loosely scheduled for production in 2013 should the project be given the go ahead by Sony Pictures.
