The Need for Speed film is still without a lead actor now that Australian actor Liam Hemsworth is no longer in the running to topline the project.
Deadline first reported that Liam Hemsworth had been dropped as a possible candidate for the Need for Speed lead and that DreamWorls now has their eye on Aussie actors, Brenton Thwaites and Luke Bracey.
Although Thwaites and Luke Bracey have had limited success in Hollywood to date, booking the Need for Speed film would be a huge leap forward for either actor. As reported, Taylor Kitsch was also rumored to be in contention but there’s been no word on whether he’s still in the running.
Earlier this year, DreamWorks tapped scribe George Gatins to pen the Need For Speed script, with stuntman Scott Waugh to direct. Although casting is still underway, the Need for Speed film has a tentative release date of February 7, 2014.
