The Lone Ranger: 3 Things We Love About the Trailer

5 years ago by Reg Seeton

The Lone Ranger trailer debuted this week when star Armie Hammer unveiled the long awaited clip this week on Tuesday night while on The Tonight Show.

Although The Lone Ranger trailer doesn’t expose too much of the film’s storyline, fans do get their first look at both Hammer as John Reid/The Lone Ranger and Johnny Depp as Tonto. Directed by Gore Verbinski, The Lone Ranger has all of the right early ingredients to get fans pumped about what’s to come on on July 3, 2013.

Judging by the trailer, what’s not to like? You get lots of guns, things that go boom, cowboys and Indians, outlaws, and Johnny Depp in another cool costume.

Pirates of the Western Frontier

There’s no denying that Jerry Bruckheimer, Gore Verbinski and Johnny Depp (even writers Ted Elliott and Terry Rossio) have taken the successful formula of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies and replaced both “pirates” and the “Caribbean” with cowboys, outlaws, Indians and the Old West.

The cinematography looks amazing! The Wild West hasn’t looked this good in a long time!

Shoot ’em Up!

In what looks to be a show of brute force and villainous aggression, the mid-point of The Lone Ranger trailer explodes when town officials get shot up. Everyone runs for cover in a hail of gunfire.

When the bullets fly, check out the bottom left corner of the screen for the a pair of legs that look like the gangsta treadmill guy on YouTube.

Watch out for that … TRAIN!

From the speeding locomotive and guys on horseback jumping onboard to the engine going off the rails, the train is downright cool! And for those guys in the way of the train in the trailer, a mouthful of steel looks to be their last meal. Can’t wait to see how that plays out!

Oh, and just for ther record, Johnny Depp looks crazy cool as Tonto!
