The cast of Glee will soon welcome Bette Midler and American Idol runner-up Jessica Sanchez as special guests in future episodes of the musical Fox series.
On Monday, Glee creator Ryan Murphy confirmed that both Bette Midler and Jessica Sanchez and singing legend Bette Midler would join the show.
Bette Midler may very well be the coupe of all Glee guest stars. On Monday night, Ryan Murphy tweeted, “Bette said yes! Amazing. I am plotting…who should she play?” We want to know too!
First reported by TVLine, it appears that Murphy asked Midler to be a guest star on Glee while she was onstage at the God’s Love We Deliver Golden Hearts Awards event in New York City. In response to the request, Bette, of course, hit Twitter. “And from the stage,” tweeted Bette, “@ryanmurphy invited me to guest on @Glee! I should get out more.” Impressive Mr. Murphy.
TV Line also reveals that 16-year old Jessica Sanchez inked a deal for a multi-episode arc. Sanchez was the Season 11 runner-up on American Idol to winner Phillip Phillips. During the Idol season, Jessica was famously saved by the judges after scoring the lowest number of votes in the Top 7 week before making it into the final two.
As for the Glee character that Bette would love to play, Midler does have someone in mind. “I have one vote for Rachel’s grandmother,” Bette admitted.
Idina Menzel played Rachel’s (Lea Michele) mother Shelby on Glee.
If Bette Midler plays her grandmother, how can Rachel not make it through NYADA and onto Broadway?
