Dmitry Sholokov was named the winner of Project Runway Season 10 on Thursday after the Russian born designer beat three finalists to take the top prize.

Former ballroom dancer Dmitry Sholokovh beat fellow Project Runway finalists Fabio Costa, Melissa Fleis, and Christopher Palu in the Season 10 finale with a collection inspired by a trip to the Guggenheim Museum in New York City.

Under the guidance of Project Runway mentor Tim Gunn and judges Nina Garcia and Michael Kors, Dmitry made it into the finale as one the final four. Each designer infused a distinct and creative feel into their final collections that were featured at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York City.

Dmitry beat out 15 other contestants throughout the season to win the grand prize of $100,000 to start his own collection, a fashion spread in Marie Claire, $50,000 worth of technology, a 2013 Lexus GS 350, and the opportunity to design a line for Lord & Taylor.

Not a bad prize for any new designer!

Guest judge Jennifer Hudson was a big fan of Dmitry’s and gushed about his winning collection, “It’s rich honey,” Hudson confessed, “it’s everything”.

As for Fabio, Melissa, and Christopher, each proved their worth as capable designers but ultimately it was Dmitry who had the most marketable collection on Project Runway.

Although we were rooting for Melissa (because who wouldn’t want to be her BFF?), Dmitry had the right recipe of sophistication and glamor.

After the victory, host Heidi Klum gave Dmitry a few words of encouragement as he embarks upon his new career, “You have your wings now,” said Klum, “so go and fly.”

  • I’m really glad Dmitry won. I think he deserved it more than the other three designers, as he was the most consistent all season. I’m really looking forward to seeing what he does next. I’m so relieved I didn’t have to miss last night’s finale. I work late nights at DISH during the week, so I made sure my Hopper was all set up to record the last episode for me. It was nice to not have to be out of the loop on who won for long.
