This week on The Voice, former Lady Gaga back-up singer Chevonne was stolen by coach Christina Aguilera after battling Team Cee Lo mate Avery Wilson.
In the final battle round on The Voice, Chevonne went head-to-head in battle against strong 16-year old contender Avery Wilson on the David Guetta and Sia hit “Titanium”.
When the battle came to an end, coach Cee Lo Green chose to keep Avery on his team, which left Chevonne seemingly on the way home.
However, as Chevonne thanked Cee Lo for his guidance on The Voice, Christina Aguilera quickly hit the steal button and selected Chevonne for Team Xtina.
So, now that she’s moved from Team Cee Lo to the roster of coach Aguilera, how does Chevonne feel about being with Christina?
“I think that working with a female coach makes sense,” Chevonne told The Deadbolt this week after her battle. “I’m in my late 20s and she’s in her 30s, and we just have similar life experience at this point. So I think we’re definitely going to connect on a very emotional level.”
When Chevonne first burst on to The Voice stage in her blind audition, the former Monster Ball Tour back-up singer and dancer impressed both Cee Lo and Blake Shelton with her version of The Pretenders’ hit “Brass in Pocket”.
This week, Chevonne managed to impress Christina to continue her journey on The Voice.
Aside from the emotional component of working with one of her idols, Chevonne sees the advantage of girl power when it comes to competing against some of the guys.
“On a personal level, it’s just going to be great,” Chevonne added to The Deadbolt. “I had a wonderful time working with Cee Lo, but just the female bond that I have with Christina is something new and different to explore. There’s a different sort of heart at the core of that. Only a woman knows what it’s like to be another woman.”
Chevonne joins a Team Xtina roster that includes fellow female singers De’borah, Adrianna Louise, Alessandra Guercio, Devyn DeLoera, Sylvia Yacoub, Celica Westbrook, and Laura Vivas plus fan favorite guys Aquille and Dez Duron.
