Sin City: A Dame to Kill For has finally started production in Austin, Texas with directors Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller and two new cast members, Jamie Chung and Jamie King.
The highly anticipated sequel to the 2005 hit Sin City, based on Frank Miller’s graphic novel of the same name, has started production, according to Hollywood Reporter, with Jamie King back as the Sin City character Wendy. Jamie Chung replaces Devon Aoki in the role of Miho, the deadly, knife-wielding, martial arts expert.
Jessica Alba, Rosario Dawson, Clive Owen, and Mickey Rourke have also returned to reprise their roles from the original Sin City.
As for rumors that Angelina Jolie would be cast in the role of Ava Lord, THR reveals that Jolie didn’t sign on to the production and is no longer a consideration. Although Rose McGowan, Salma Hayek and Rachel Weisz have all been mentioned as possible new frontrunner for the role of Ava, the key role is still unconfirmed.
It’s been seven years since we last saw Sin City, which earned $71 million at the domestic box office and took in $158 million worldwide.
Sin City: A Dame to Kill For is scheduled for release on October 3, 2013.
