It appears that Jamie Foxx is now in early talks to play villain Electro in the upcoming The Amazing Spider-Man 2 which is slated for theaters in 2014.
Although Variety revealed that Jamie Foxx has entered into early negotiations to play Electro in the sequek to The Amazing Spider-Man, Foxx gave fuel to the rumors when he tweeted, “Dressed up as Electro for Halloween last night. Costume fits well.”
Despite no official word from Marvel on the possible casting of Jamie Foxx as Electro, several outlets, including both Variety and Entertainment Weekly, report that Foxx is indeed in preliminary talks for the role.
The latest casting news comes on the heels of director Marc Webb, Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone confirming their return to The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and word that Shailene Woodley has signed on to play Mary Jane Watson, longtime gal pal of Peter Parker.
Jamie Foxx will next appear in the Quentin Tarantino film Django Unchained, which hits theatres on December 25.

As fans of the first Amazing Spider-Man know, there was a hint at Electro following the film’s credits when electricity could be heard with the appearance of an unknown figure at the jail cell of Dr. Curt Connors, played by Rhys Ifans.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is expected to hit theatres on May 2, 2014.
