Green Day released their new video for “The Forgotten” which will appear in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 and on the film’s soundtrack.
“The Forgotten” is a throwback to the days of power ballads with a slower tempo than the fast punk of Green Day with a focus on guitar string arrangement. The new Green Day video features a blend of raw performance footage and clips from The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2.
“The Forgotten” was first released on Soundcloud this past Tuesday. Despite recent news that Green Day had cancelled the rest of their live shows for the remainder of 2012, the release of “The Forgotten” is a positive step forward. 2012 tour dates were cancelled after lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong entered rehab.
Although it may be surprise to some that Green Day signed on to contribute to the Breaking Dawn Part 2 soundtrack, the band follows a long list of highly acclaimed musicians and singers that have appeared on Twilight Saga soundtracks.
Green Day follows such names as Thom York, Sia, Bon Iver, Muse, Metric, Band of Horses, and Bruno Mars.
Other notable artists on the soundtrack for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2, include Feist, Christina Perri, Passion Pit, and Ellie Goulding, along with a duet from Paul McDonald and Twilight Saga star Nikki Reed.
Green Day’s upcoming album “¡Dos!,” is set for a November 9 release.
