Revenge returned to ABC on Sunday night for the sixth episode of the season called “Illusion” in which Mason figured out the puzzle of Emily’s lies.
Emily (Emily VanCamp) and Amanda (Margarita Levivera) developed a strategy to throw Mason (Roger Bart) off their lies while Kara (Jennifer Jason Leigh) started her plan to take down the Graysons, and both Victoria (Madeleine Stowe) and Conrad (Henry Czerny) followed through on their wedding ceremony for strategic legal reasons.
Liar, liar, pants on fire
This week on Revenge, the return of Mason put a serious kink in Emily’s plans to keep her identity secret. However, when Mason had a sit-down with Amanda, he learned that the White-Haired Man, aka Gordon Murphy (James Morrison), was a key player in the Grayson family. That information was enough to keep Mason occupied while Amanda believed that she and Emily were in the free and clear.
Too bad Mason is like a bad cold, he just won’t go away! At least Amanda got a reprieve from the crazy when Jack proposed and made her dinner on board the tea-lit boat.
Mom’s the word
After last week’s confession, Emily started to lower her guard around Kara. Although it’s hard to say whether Emily will reveal her true identity to Kara, it was heartbreaking to watch a lost daughter try to grow closer to her mother. The relationship Emily always wanted with Kara is now within her reach, if only she wasn’t lying about who she really is. Will Kara be able to forgive Emily when she finds out the truth? More importantly, what will she do when the truth comes out?
In the Grayson household, Charlotte (Christa B. Allen) finally stood up to her parents and refused to attend their sham of a wedding. Although Victoria and Conrad tried to convince her that their impending nuptials were real, Charlotte decided to spend some time with Declan (Connor Paolo) instead.
Two girls, two mothers, and not one healthy relationship.
The truth is revealed … sort of
Following his visit with Amanda, Mason headed for the home of the White-haired Man/Gordon Murphy. Once there, he discovered Murphy’s dead body and one of Conrad’s cuff-links strategically on the floor. How did Gordon get back to his trailer after Aiden (Barry Sloane) killed him two weeks ago? As we learned this Sunday, Emily had him “chilling” out in cold storage for precisely this moment.
Prior to the Grayson wedding, Mason placed a call to Victoria to let her know he found Murphy and that Conrad would take the fall. The Grayson matriarch was elated by the news since she finally found a way to get rid of Conrad and save herself in the process.
Once Victoria and Conrad exchanged “I do’s,” the police stormed in and arrested Conrad on the spot. Of course a shocked Victoria looked to Charlotte to say she had nothing to do with the arrest. However, Ben (Joshua Bowman) threw his mother under the bus by revealing that she actually knew about the White Haired Man’s involvement.
It’s just murder
Following Conrad’s arrest, Victoria returned home to shake off the wedding and go to bed knowing that her husband was behind bars for the rest of his life. It didn’t take long for fans to get another twist when Conrad turned up in the middle of the night free on bail due to the Americon Initiative. Victoria was more than shocked to say the least.
Although the AI pulled strings to get Conrad released on bail, he’ll soon have to help them out financially … again. What does it mean? Conrad’s not really sure at this point.
In the end, with some wine, romantic lighting, and a dreamy British accent, Aiden tried to convince Emily that he’s changed. But Emily wasn’t falling for it.
And just when Emily thought she finally got one over on the Graysons, the episode ended with Mason learning the truth, that Emily is really Amanda! Not so fast …
As this week’s Revenge came to a close, we saw how Emily planted evidence to pin Murphy’s murder on Conrad.
So, what will Mason do with this new information? What does the Initiative plan do with Conrad and Victoria? And will Aiden and Emily ever get a second chance at a happy ending before Mason ruins everything?
How did you feel about this week’s Revenge?
